So far, my shopping trips have not helped one bit!
I remember shopping when being in the stores was part of the magic - all of them were decorated to the hilt with Christmas trees, huge shiny bells and balls and garlands hanging from the ceilings - and there must have been some kind of Christmas incense, because I recall a special aroma of the season.
The Crescent in downtown Spokane, Washington was a special treat. The Christmas displays in the windows made a little kid feel like they were right there at Santa's workshop. Thankfully, they were still doing that when my own kids were small.
And now - nothing. The stores look just as boring as they did in April and September. At least in summer they decorate for the 4th of July.
I know - it's all part of being "politically correct" and not offending anyone. Well, I think if someone is offended by Santa Clause then they should just go sit in a dark basement for the month of December and let the rest of us enjoy the season.
It's too early for me to say "Merry Christmas," so... Happy Christmas Season!
And if I see a store with decorations, I'm going there to buy my gifts...
What do you think?
